Formula Medicine is unique in its kind in sports medicine, both nationally and internationally, giving a complete service of all medical, mental and fitness aspects in sport and can offer at its headquarters a full team composed of Doctors, Psychologists, Mental Trainers, Nutritionists, Physical Trainers and Physiotherapists all working together.
As a result of continuous research for over 25 years, Formula Medicine has developed its innovative methodologies in order to achieve a comprehensive and thorough knowledge of each individual athlete; his or her medical, mental and physical condition, and then draw up a highly customized training program to maximize the competitive edge.
This philosophy has been used successfully for several years with two young sailors, Andrea Pendibene and Giovanna Valsecchi, protagonists in the Mini 6.50 category.
Andrea has won the Italian title 4 times, two of which, in 2013 and 2014, with Giovanna In 2010 he was third in the world rankings, following a season which saw him finish first or second in the seven races sailed. Giovanna, in addition to these successes, has raced with the Italian team in the Laser class, a single-handed Olympic sailing dinghy, taking part in the European and World Championships.

Specifically, Formula Medicine, in addition to the physical training and regular medical check-ups, has devoted particular attention to the mental aspect, a factor that may play a key role in the outcome of ocean sailing, particularly in the Mini Transat 6.50 a truly incredible event.
Every two years the best 80 sailors in the world of this category set off from La Rochelle to do battle in a challenge that has the characteristics of an adventure, and that will lead them to spend 30 days on their own without assistance crossing the Atlantic Ocean to Brazil for a total of 4,200 miles (7,800 kilometers).
Proper management of sleep, nutrition, supplements and stress is the key to success in this type of event, and these aspects are dealt with by Formula Medicine with the use of “Mental Economy Training®”, a technique aimed at optimizing psycho-physical resources in order to reduce any unnecessary waste of energy and to assist the sailor in looking after himself and maintain sanity after many days of continuous commitment in the middle of the ocean.
